In collaboration with Tribal Brands, we took 6 Chinese chefs to New Zealand to explore the origins of some of the countries most iconic ingredients: Salmon, Lobster, Clams, Beef, Lamb and Venison. My role was to film an episode for each of the brand, as well as a package of photographic content, the filming time for each brand was a day. How does a shoot like this work?
A day for each brand is a stretch, but anything is possible. the goal of this trip was to capture the chefs engaging with the ingredients at their source, so with some incredible planning by Tribal Brands, we had a full on schedule around New Zealand, showing up early in the morning to a farm or wharf, getting the chef we were featuring that day to dive in with the farmer or fisherman for a few hours, a bit of time to rest when the light was poor in the middle of the day, then spend the second half of the day cooking with local chefs to capture content from farm to fork, all within a day.
